Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 8, 2026
The short version: this website does not track you. We only get your details when you download or buy a guide, and we use them to deliver it, help you, and keep our tax records. We email you offers only if you tick the box. We never sell your information.
Who we are
Clearshelf makes short PDF guides and sells them at readclearshelf.com. Clearshelf is run from Alberta, Canada. If you have any question about your information, email support@readclearshelf.com.
When you visit this website
- We don't use analytics, ad trackers, or tracking cookies. Our fonts and pictures load from our own site, not from other companies.
- Our host, Hostinger, keeps standard server records (like your IP address, browser type, the page you asked for, and the time) to keep the site running and safe. Its security system may set a small technical cookie to tell people apart from bots.
- The share buttons (WhatsApp, X, Facebook, LinkedIn) are plain links. Nothing is sent to those companies unless you click one.
When you download or buy a guide
Checkout happens on Payhip, the store that delivers our guides. Payments go through Stripe or PayPal. From your order we receive:
- your name and email address,
- what you got, the price, and the date,
- your country, which is needed to work out sales tax.
We never see or store your full card number. We use your order details to deliver your guide, send your receipt, answer your questions, give refunds, and keep the business records the law requires.
Emails
- Offers and new guides: only if you tick "Send me new Clearshelf guides and offers by email" at checkout. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also just write to us.
- Order emails: your receipt and download link are sent no matter what, because they're part of your order.
- Support: if you email us, we keep the conversation so we can help you.
Who helps us
We share only what each one needs to do its job:
- Payhip (United Kingdom): our store, checkout, downloads, and emails to customers.
- Stripe and PayPal: payment processing.
- Hostinger: website hosting (servers in the United States) and our email inbox.
These companies may store information outside Canada, mainly in the United States, the United Kingdom, and the European Union. When that happens, the laws of those places apply there too. Each one has its own privacy policy, for example Payhip's privacy policy.
We don't sell, rent, or trade your information, and we don't share it for anyone else's advertising.
How long we keep it
- Order records: at least 6 years, because Canadian tax law requires it.
- Email list: until you unsubscribe.
- Support emails: as long as we need them to help you, and no more than 2 years unless the law needs us to keep them longer.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to show you the information we have about you, fix it, or delete it (except records the law makes us keep). You can stop marketing emails at any time. Write to support@readclearshelf.com and we'll reply within 30 days.
We follow Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act and Canada's privacy laws. If you're not happy with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta. If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you also have the rights given by your local data protection law, including the right to complain to your local authority.
Children
Clearshelf is made for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you think a child has given us their details, tell us and we'll delete them.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Big changes will also be shared by email with people on our list.
